Stone - Vivianite

Gemology – Fe2+Fe2+2(PO4)2·8H2O or, for the those of us that are not chemistry nerds - Iron, Water and Phosphate. Vivianite was discovered in England in 1817. Vivianite is a very fragile mineral and can be easily scratched ranking it a 2 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. It has a monoclinic crystal structure meaning it forms in thin sheets that are held together by very weak bonds.  For reference, this would give it the same crystal growth pattern of clear Selenite.

General Disclaimer - Each crystal or jewelry item OFJ sells is unique. Just as stones are unique in nature, no two OFJ jewelry or crystal items will look exactly alike. The item you receive may be a slight variation of what the photography suggests including the chains for jewelry items, unless it is from our Unique Crystal Collection. All mineral specimens that come mounted on acrylic bases are adhered with hot glue. If the glue comes off or the crystal detaches during shipping, you can reapply with fresh hot glue. Any display stands or display items in photography are not included with purchase. All spheres will include a small plastic display. All metals are base and plated in rhodium, unless otherwise stated with quality information. We hand select every individual piece we sell to ensure you are getting the best value.
